Serv-A-Pure 721502, 20" Big Blue Chloramine and Sediment Removal Water Filter System
You are purchasing a 20" Big Blue Chloramine and Sediment Removal water filter system. Chloramines are commonly used in low concentrations as a secondary disinfection method to chlorine. This use of chloramines is becoming more common. Chlorine is being replaced by chloramine which is much more stable and does not dissipate as rapidly.
Chloramines should be removed from water for dialysis, aquariums, hydroponic applications and home brewing beer. Chloramines can interfere with dialysis, hurt aquatic animals, give home brewed beer a medicinal taste, and in hydroponic applications it will stunt the growth and fruit production of plants.
To protect the integrity of the chloramine reduction filter, in cases where the water has high sediment, a sediment filter can be installed prior to the chloramine reduction filter. This system comes standard with a DGD-5005-20 filter, but you can choose from a drop down menu any filter you would like. If you do not see the sediment filter you want in the drop down menu, call 800-338-4905 and we can make the selection for you.
Options for this system include:
• 1" In/Out
• Wall Mounting Bracket and Mounting Hardware
• 2 Stage Filtering Process
• 1" In/Out
• Wall Mounting Bracket and Mounting Hardware
• 2 Stage Filtering Process
- Stage 1: Sediment filter removes sand, dirt, rust and all other types of sediment. Comes standard with a DGD-5005-20 filter, 4.5" x 20"
- Stage 1: Carbon Filter to remove chloramines (See choices below), 4.5" x 20"
• SW-4 Wrench
- Stage 1: Carbon Filter to remove chloramines (See choices below), 4.5" x 20"
• SW-4 Wrench
• 1" Inlet/Outlet Spears Ball Valves
• 0-100 PSI Simmons pressure gauges staged throughout the system.
Pressure Gauge Locations
• Pressure Gauge #1 - Located at the inlet of the first filter housing. Measures incoming pressure to system.
• Pressure Gauge #2 - Located at the inlet of the 2nd housing. Measures pressure drop across 1st sediment filter.
• Pressure Gauge #3 - Located at the outlet of the 2nd housing. Measures pressure drop across the taste/odor filter.
It is recommended that your sediment filter be the first filter to come into contact with the water to help remove sediment that will cause premature plugging in the taste/odor filter.
