New button failed to stop the leak.
We had the canister filter installed along with a water softener. The unit has always leaked off and on since it was installed. Due to the tight installation and no union valves, the entire job will have to be redone if I was to replace the canister filter. I ordered the button kit hoping I had a bad gasket. The unit was opened up, the area was cleaned thoroughly with a calcium dissolver, rinsed with fresh water, felt for any rough spot, gasket coated with silicone grease, and put back together. The leak is now much worse than before. Internet searches show this to be a consistent problem. Must be a design flaw.
